Help with fading hair colour?

I'm planning to dye my hair medium/dark brown with purple bits in a week or so, any tips for making sure the colour doesn't fade?

I've dyed my hair permanently a number of times and every time after a couple of washes the colour fades dramatically! I really don't want this to happen again as I'm sure it's going to look great!

Thanks!

dont use anti dandruff shampoo cos it takes the colour straight out.

no dandruff, or clarifying shampoos, Prell, or any shampoos with citrus in it. You need to buy a shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair.

you can start with using the color treated shampoo %26amp; conditioner of your choice, and wash your hair in as cold of water as you can stand. my fiancees mom is a hairdresser of many years, and she gave me some advice that has kept my new dirty blonde shade from fading out/getting brassy. she told me to mix just a small amount, an ounce or two of your hair dye (but use a 10 vol. developer) and use that in your shampoo or conditioner. i used it in my conditioner every 2 weeks or so, left it on about 15 minutes and rinsed it out, and my semi-permanent color looks like it didn't fade at all.

always use correct shampoo's and conditioners especially made for colour treated hair, another good option is to apply a toner as soon as it starts to fade. you can get these almost everywhere supermarkets, most shops and they come a little sachet for only about 1.00 and these restore the colour and add tone. You can actually if wanted use these overtime you wash your hair as stated on the back as they as well as adding tone etc they are a very good conditioning product giving silk and shine.

Highly recommend
