Hair Dye Help !!!!!?

hi please help ive had blonde highlights in the past and from then i kept dying my hair medium brown from a bottle but a week or so later it always turns a horrible orange colour yuck well this year i went back to my old blonde highlights but last week i wanted a change so i went to the hairdressers to have it all dyed brown. The hairdresser promised me the colour would remain the same and stuff but a week later its gone a horrid orange colour again.

Do you think i should go back to the hairdressers and complain? or do you know of any good brown home dyes that dont turn your hair ORANGE? lol thankyou x

When your hair is highlighted the bleach removes all pigment from the strand. You need to replace that pigment before applying color. Tint has a base to it, gold, purple or green. If you color over bleached hair, the light hair will grab the base color of the tint. If you are going to color medium brown over your highlights you need to use a filler on the bleached hair first. If you like warm brown(red undertones) use a red filler. If you like ash brown colors use a gold filler. Ask your hairdresser about this, it's too hard to do on your own. Don't be afraid to question the hairdresser, you are the one who is weraing the hair. Look elsewhere too if the hairdresser you currently see is not sure what to do. Good luck.

It sounds like you have damaged your hair from the bleach and it won't hold color. This happens sometimes with highlights and the stylist would need to use a color filler. It is a product that will help hold your color. They should also use a cooler color background like violet or green. This will help kill the orange from coming out. Also, you might want to try a few things at home that will help hold the hair color in. Use a color protectant shampoo and conditioner, use a conditioning treatment weekly, rinse your hair with cool water, use a protectant product to help from heat damage when blow drying, curling, and flat ironing. Hope this helps!

you sound like you have the same sort of colour hair as me,. i afraid you must have a strong pigment of red in your hair, does a realtion like your mum or dad have red hair at all? if so this is why, the colour will always be this colour at the end because of the redness, what i would do is use a gentle mousse colour or wash in one every now and then, the real dyes are no good and they just dry your hair out, try a colour (organic) from the health shops, go in and ask about those, they may be better, make sure you leave them on for the full time as well. see how u get on, hope this helps -- julie

the hairdresser needed to use a colour filler befoe applying the brown colourant to your hair, she risked turning your hair a khaki / muddy green colour by not adding the red pigment back in. you say that you were previously bleach blonde highlighted but you do not say to what level- were they more of a golden highlight or pale blonde? the issue is probably that your hair is damaged and will not hold onto colour (that would make sense to me if your highlights were golden blonde which is why you are now seeing orange) what your hairdresser should of used in this case is a blue based brown colour like an 4b which would of counteracted the brassy orange / golden tones to a neutral brown. if i were you then i would go back and complain as salons rely upon reputation and word of mouth to book and keep clients so will want to see you happy in order for you to return. the manager should offer to rectify the mistake free of charge.

i have been dying my hair for 2 1/2 years now and my hair was blonde but i have been dying it brown ever since, i did use 'nice 'n' easy' which is easier to mix but i have been on 'garnier' which is just as good. i think you should complain to the hairdressers anyway because if they promised you it would stay the same colour and you also paid alot of money for ot to be done then i think you should, i would!! it also depends what kind of person you are are and if they have ever done this before to your hair. i suggest you use protective spray for example 'tresemme' before or while you blow dry it.

if that doesn't work then you should buy a 'colour keep' shampoo and conditioner which you can buy from anywhere. use it like your normal shampoo and conditioner.

good luck, hope all goes well!!!! xx
