Is conair procolor accents ok for thin hair?

I have thin (not completely thin but not exactly medium) hair, and I want to add some color. My mom, however, says I'm too young to dye my hair so I want to ask her about procolor accents. But, I'm worried about it destroying my hair.... can you help me?
