How do I get my black hair to turn to a medium brown?

Bleaching it out is the only way . I think you need to get a professional stylist to do it because you could burn your hair into one big rubbery mess . If you do decide to do it then you will need to start at the line of demarcation (that's where your natural hair has grown out and meets with the color ) Stay off the scalp also , this could cause severe burns . The bleach should stay on no more than 15 minutes , this will lift the black to a tone you don't want , but you can always add toner that will counter act the color you got .If you get real brassy then ad a color that will counteract the brass. On the color wheel it is violet . This is why you need a professional . Also color does not lift color ......Regardless of what the amateurs say .

Oh no, you may have to bleach it or strip it. I had black hair for a long time and had to strip it multiple times and then put dye on top of it to make it brown (and not a million colors).

It is tough, but make sure it's what you want to do before you do it. Once you go back from black (and see how hard it is), you will never want to go back to black because it is so hard to get out.

Don't do it yourself, go to a professional. And, it may take more than one time to achieve the right color . . .

Go to your hair salonist (bring some good $$$)

tell her/him you want to turn it medium brown.

they are (90%/100%) going to have to lift it

i'm pretty sure they'll make it white or blond then turn it to the

color you want it to be

It takes a little bit so go on a day where you have time

it WILL cost some good $$$!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Go to your local hair store and ask for a booster. One name brand I know is good it's called Seven Stages. Also ask for Clairoxide 40 and follow the instructions on the booster pack. Black hair is resistence the first time thats why you will need the booster to lift the color. When using seven stages once you see the color you need to wash it right then because Seven Stage will change from Black to Platinum Blond If it sit long enough. If you don't quite like the color after you have lightened it you can pick any semi-permanent in the hair store. Now that your hair is lighter it will take any color and now you can change colors in 5 to 6 washes. After you color you hair you should keep it conditioned and moisterized to prevent breakage.I have tried the box colors but they don't seem to come out the color of the box unless you buy a seperate booster and put in the color because your hair is dark. If this is your first time and you aren't that confident go to a professional and watch them. Also ask the associates at your hair store they know a great deal about colors, weaves, and any new item thats out.

try john frieda's colour glaze for brunette's, it wont dye your hair but it will add a brown sheen and deepen the colour after a few uses.

Another thing that really works is henna...i used it for so many years on my black hair and it gives it a lovely mahogany brown sheen that looks even lovelier in the sun.

good luck :-) hope i helped!
