Does baking soda really strip out hair color? because i colored my hiar medium brown but it has red

and i do not like it at all. So i heard baking soda will help get rid of the red tones. Is this true?

I would wait about a wk you do not want to ruin your hair. Some times it will fade out and sometimes i wash my hair right after i color it i noticed that i have much less brassiness. Next time you color get a color that is out of the warm family. go for cool colors because they have no red highlights.You can get any colors in warm or cool shades. red highlights can be avoided. You can also go online with who ever made the dye and they will help u out. Oh yes be careful of ash colors you can also get a greenish cast too. I would definatly go on line.

Most brown hair colors are going to have some red in them. Instead of putting baking soda in your hair which is sure to leave you with quite the birds nest, try a semi-permament color or tint in a darker brown, that way you can add that to your colored hair without damaging so much with more peroxide from another hair dye.

no baking soda unless you r trying to remove hair spray from the hair. all browns have red in them. however if you want to tone out the red, you need to use a non peroxide, no lift, no ammonia color, with a green base. go to sally's beauty supply, and get the beautiful browns by Clairol or the Radiance brand of deposit only color in an ash formula. or even better go see a qualified stylist!

I don't know about baking soda but dawn dish soap does really well stripping out hair color.
